Yacht Maintenance

If you have your own boat, or are thinking of buying one, or just wish to be more knowledgeable when skippering a boat then you may wish to learn to carry out your own yacht maintenance. The course is an intensive 6 day course where you will learn how to maintain the yacht, as well as learning new skills.
We offer two courses dependant on whether you are interested in sailing or motor yachts:

SAILING YACHTS – this course includes:

  • Electrical systems – including fault finding, battery maintenance, adding extra items i.e. lights, charging systems;
  • Rigging and deckware – including checking the rigging, replacing guard rails, maintaining winches and clutches
  • Engine maintenance – how to maintain and fault find on the types of engines used in sailing yachts
  • GRP – including repair of gel coat chips and other minor hull repairs
  • Plumbing systems – maintenance and servicing of seacocks, pipe work and water tanks (fresh and foul)

MOTOR YACHTS – this course includes:

  • Electrical systems – including fault finding, battery maintenance, adding extra items i.e. lights, charging systems;
  • Deckware – including replacing guard rails and air conditioning systems
  • Engine maintenance – how to maintain and fault find on the types of large engines used in motor yachts
  • GRP – including repair of gel coat chips and other minor hull repairs
  • Plumbing systems – maintenance and servicing of seacocks, pipe work and water tanks (fresh and foul)

The courses are run by Andy: an authorised repairer for Lewmar, Seldon masts, Cummins etc. He is also a trained boat builder and spent a number of years doing yacht prototyping for Dufour, Catana and working on traditional wooden yachts.
