Western Islands Sailing Week

Service Description

The trip starts on a Saturday from Marina del Sur in las Galletas, Tenerife. From there you can choose to go to Los Gigantes or La Gomera (5 hours aprox.) where we´ll spend the night and almost a full day exploring. Sunday night we will sail towards La Palma (10 hours sail) to arrive in the Monday morning and spend the whole day and the night there. On Tuesday morning we´ll sail towards El Hierro ( 11 hours aprox.) and spend the night there and Wednesday morning. In the evening we will sail away towards the south of la Gomera (8 hours) and anchor if conditions allow to spend the night. On Thursday evening we will sail back to the south of Tenerife (6 hours) and enjoy a crew night dinner. Supplies on board will be bought on Saturday's morning on the Farmer's Market in las Chafiras (close to marina del sur). Doing this as an alternative to supermarkets offers many benefits, among which we consider: - Contributing to the local economy (Community based tourism). By buying from the local farmers we contribute to the Island's economy and its farmers. - We reduce food's carbon footprint by acquiring products that haven't had to travel long distances (by boat, plane, truck...). All the produce you can find in the market is from within Tenerife. - We reduce food derived pollution because most of the things we buy there come in their natural packaging without plastic. Our water bottles are refilled every week thanks to a truck that brings drinkable water to the market. - Finally, we eat fresh and healthy food. Most of the food you can find in the market is very fresh and has no conservatives to make it last longer. Try real local cheese, wine, fruits, vegetables and spices! *If you want to add local artisan's beer for the week you can include it as an extra. The yachts will be between 39 and 43 feet L.O.A. and have room for 6 to 8 people on board. Prices vary depending on the vessel. Some shore based activities are run by friends of our club, get our special prices for kayaking, surfing, diving and many other activities. Including a skipper is a must for this itinerary, he / she will also act as a guide on the places you visit. All our skippers are up to the Yacht master level and offer a great deal of safety to the trip, so you can relax and take the helm when you desire. You can also add a host to this journey who will prepare meals, drinks and make sure the boat is tidy at all times. He / she will also offer assistance to the skipper when required.
