The MCA / RYA Yachtmaster Motor / Power preparation week is designed to polish your skills so that you can pass the YMCA / RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Power Certificate of Competence.
During the preparation you will practice the skills you have learnt doing your RYA Coastal Skipper Practical course - getting ready for the examiner to test you are at the standard to be awarded the Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence.
The MCA requires that you have 30 days, 2 days as skipper, 800 miles, 12 night hours.
For holders of the Coastal Skipper Practical course completion certificate this is reduced to 20 days, 2 days as skipper, 400 miles, 12 night hours. Half the qualifying seatime must be in tidal waters.
Why do your Yachtmaster Motor preparation with Club Yachting?
Time: We are firm believers in not just doing the minimum so on our Yachtmaster preparation we include 6 days of preparation time before the exam, and 9 nights accommodation. You don't have to take any extra time of work - we just allow more time to fine tune your skills.nnExperienced instructors: The yachtmaster power preparation weeks are usually run by Andy, who is also an Examiner for Sail, Motor and Powerboat so ideally placed to know the standard.
Ability after passing your Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence
Skipper a motor yacht on coastal passages by day and night, and with the Commercial Endorsement be paid to take a motor yacht on Coastal Passages.
The climate in the Canaries is temperate. You are recommended to bring with you shorts and t-shirts, a jumper/cardigan, long jeans/trousers and jumper for the odd cooler evening in the winter months, shoes with non-marking bottoms for use on the boat, swimwear and something for dinners ashore. As the boat has limited storage space a sailing bag / holdall is the most suitable luggage.nnNotes: We lend you a shower / wind proof jacket (normally only needed for the sea spray). Please give it back to us on the Thursday evening.
