Last year Andy attended the RYA's 2009 Sea Survival Instructors course.  The RYA run one Sea Survival Instructors course for 10 persons every year and have a 60% pass rate - so we were delighted that Andy became one of the few Instructors that can teach this course.  He said "it was a great course to attend and interesting to experience letting off flares, getting stuck in a liferaft in the English channel and being rescued by a helicopter."

During the course you learn all about lifejackets, firing flares and what is inside the liferaft before going of to our local pool to try the liferaft off for yourselves.  In the afternoon, following lunch, you learn all about the 1979 Fastnet race and how to survive in a raft.

This course is great for all sailors - as it demonstrates how to survive at sea should the worse happen - and help ensure that you don't become a statistic.
These courses are run every four weeks in the warm sunshine of the Canary Islands - so why not combine it with a sailing course, after all its muh more fun in the sun than a cold pool in the UK.
